No Israeli aircraft landed at Islamabad airport, clarifies CAA

ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Saturday rebutted the claims about arrival of an Israeli aircraft at Islamabad airport. 

A CAA spokesperson stated in categorical terms that no aircraft from Israel touched down at any airport in Pakistan. There is no truth in the rumors about arrival of an Israeli plane in Pakistan, he added.

This clarification came on the heels of a tweet by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry assailing PML-N stalwart Ahsan Iqbal who shared a media report about the alleged arrival of the aircraft on his verified twitter account seeking an explanation from the government.

Avi Scharf, editor of Israeli newspaper Haaretz, had tweeted that an Israeli air craft had travelled from Tel Aviv to Islamabad.

He claimed that the flight made a brief stopover in Amman to create the impression that the flight actually took off from Amman not from Tel Aviv.

In a tweet earlier today, Fawad Chaudhry said the present government would neither hold secret talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor with Israel.

He was of the view that had the opposition PML-N been so worried about Pakistan when in power as they are showing concern now, the country wouldn’t have been in such a situation.

For this reason, he suggested, the opposition shouldn’t show fake concern as Pakistan is in strong hands.
