Pakistan is in ‘strong hands’, Fawad tells opponents

Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said on Saturday neither Prime Minister Imran Khan is like former premier Nawaz Sharif nor his cabinet has a fake Aristotle like him.

In a tweet, the minister said the present government would hold secret talks neither with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor with Israel.

He was responding to a tweet by PML-N stalwart Ahsan Iqbal who while quoting a media report about an Israeli aircraft visiting Islamabad sought an explanation from the government on the matter.

He was of the view that had the opposition PML-N been so worried about Pakistan when in power as they are showing concern now, the country wouldn’t have been in such a situation.

For this reason, he suggested, the opposition shouldn’t show fake concern as Pakistan is in strong hands.

A day earlier, the minister triggered a strong criticism from the PML-N when he said Nawaz Sharif would go back to jail.

He said that government had adopted zero tolerance policy over corruption and the PTI was committed to address the issue without discrimination.

He said political or non-political figures who are involved in corruption activities would face serious consequences of their wrong doings. He added that such elements would have sentences according to their involvement in grafting.

About role of Pakistan in conflict between the Muslim nations, he said Pakistan would play a role as mediator to address the issue between Saudi Arabia and Yamen, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Commenting on Saudi Arabia’s interest in China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, he said that the brotherly country would invest in the infrastructure of this mega project of the region.

To a question, he said that 18th Amendment was good for some sectors but not for all. The minister said that provincial governments could not streamline the affairs in health sector, due to which, he added it had badly affect the common citizen of the area.

The Government has no plan to rollback the 18th Amendment but in special circumstances, we could take the political parties on board to resolve the problems of the people of the provinces.

He, however said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) was facing problems due to amendment.
