KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Ali Zaidi, on Sunday announced compensation for heirs of two policemen who lost their lives in attack on the Chinese Consulate on November 23, ARY News reported.
Zaidi said he would give Rs 5,00,000 to heirs of each martyred cop, while also announcing to bear educational expenses of children of the deceased policemen.
He praised the gallantry displayed by security guard Jumman Shah who fought the attackers, and said ‘people like Jumman are our real heroes.’ He also announced Rs 3,00,000 for the guard.
Two policemen, ASI Ashraf Daud, 40, and constable Amir Khan, 30, and a security guard, Jumman Shah, 40, were injured during the attack.
Couple of days ago, the Sindh government had announced Rs 12.5 million compensation money for the families of each assassinated police official, who embraced martyrdom while foiling terrorist attack on the consulate.
Adviser to Sindh chief minister on Information Murtaza Wahab announced Rs12.5 million compensation money for the families of each police officials and Rs1 million for the injured private guard. He also announced that the Sindh government will bear all the medical expenses of the guard.
At least three terrorists were killed as security forces and police foiled the terror attack targeting the Chinese Consulate in Karachi.
Two policemen embraced martyrdom in exchange of fire with the three terrorists armed with suicide jackets. Two civilians were also killed in the attack.
