ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday directed centre and provinces to submit monthly progress report against the usage of narcotics in educational institutes.
According to the details, a three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, while hearing a case pertaining to drug peddling in educational institutes, ordered the provinces to submit monthly report on drugs in academies.
It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) submitted report in the apex court on drugs in educational institutes, whereas the chief justice directed Sindh and Balochistan police to submit their reply over noncooperation within 10 days.
DIG operation Lahore told the apex court that police launched crackdown against the drug peddlers and apprehended at least 50 suspects.
During the proceeding, CJP Saqib Nisar asked that who is responsible to curb the drug peddling and maintained that drugs are easily available in the educational institutes. He directed the DIG operation Lahore to take action against the black sheep in his department.
To a query about recovery from Mansha ‘Bomb’, Punjab police representative told the court that investigations against Mansha ‘Bomb’ is underway. He informed the apex court that no police official was involved in the drug peddling.
