SHIKARPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday claimed that Sindh produces 70 per cent of total gas produced in the country and said that the producer province has fist right on its gas reserves under the Article-158 of the constitution.
Talking to journalists in Shikarpur, Syed Murad Ali Shah lashed out at Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar over mismanagement during ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Karachi. He said the mayor should have devised strategy and homework before initiating such a large-scale anti-encroachment operation in the city.
Murad Ali Shah said that the apex court ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to remove the illegal structures in the city and clarified that the provincial government is nothing to do with the drive.
The chief minister was of the view that KMC should have provided alternative places to the shopkeepers before displacing them and urged the federal government to compensate with the affectees of the anti-encroachment operation in Karachi.
He said the encroachment issue in the city is 70 years old and added that the provincial government is ready to play its due role in this regard.
He further said that taking action against corruption is a provincial subject and added that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should exercise its powers within its constitutional ambit.
