ISLAMABAD: The federal government has extended relief to the export sector with cheaper electricity to five export-oriented industries, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved cheaper rates of electricity for five export industries including textile, surgical instruments, sports goods, carpets and leather industries, sources said.
The government has slashed per unit rate of electricity for these industries from existing 14 rupees to 10 rupees per unit.
The textile manufacturers have welcomed the government’s incentive for boosting the exports.
Chairman All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA), Gohar Ejaz while lauding the government decision, has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has fulfilled his promise.
He said the mills were closed in Punjab due to expensive electricity and gas but the government decision would go a long way and will provide relief to industries.
The federal government on Monday also reduced the prices of petroleum products for January 2019.
A government notification reduced the petrol price by Rs4.86 per litre, diesel price by Rs 4.26 per litre and light diesel oil by Rs2.16 per litre.
