LAHORE: The Home Department of Punjab has instructed to keep the incarcerated brothers – Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif – in separate compounds of Kot Lakhpat jail.
According to details, the detained opposition leader has been transferred to Lahore’s jail owing to security concerns where former premier Nawaz Sharif is already imprisoned.
A new schedule for the meeting between the two brothers has been finalized as per sources. Meanwhile, the home department has ordered to deploy additional contingents for the security of the high-profile siblings.
On December 24, an accountability court announced the verdict in two National Accountability Bureau references and punished Nawaz to seven years in prison apart from imposing a $25million and Rs1.5 billion fine in Al-Azizia Steel Mill reference.
Ousted prime minister has been given the better class in prison, and is currently availing the facilities of a mattress, table and two chairs, newspaper and a TV inside the jail room.
It is relevant to note that Shehbaz has been under the custody of NAB on graft charges in Ashiana Housing Scheme case.
