Top military brass discusses country’s internal security situation

RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders Conference on Tuesday discussed internal security of the country and geo-strategic environment, ARY News reported.

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed chaired the 217^th Corps Commanders Conference here at the General Headquarters (GHQ) here today, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

ISPR PRESS RELEASE – 10/2019Rawalpindi, 08 January 2019: 217th Corps Commanders’ Conference presided by General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) held at GHQ. Forum reviewed geo-strategic environment and security situation of the country. Progress of ongoing operations, fencing along Pak-Afg border, situation along Eastern Border including Indian ceasefire violations deliberately targeting innocent citizens and Afghan reconciliation process were also discussed. Forum reiterated to continue its efforts for bringing enduring peace in the country while supporting all initiatives towards regional peace.

The conference reviewed country’s overall situation, fencing on the Pak-Afghan border and the situation at the eastern borders.

The Indian aggression along Line of Control (LoC) and the Afghan reconciliation process also came under discussion by the military’s top brass.

The forum pledged to carry forward the achieved successes to enduring peace and stability in the country, said ISPR.

Chairing the 216^th Corps Commanders Conference on December 13, the COAS said army will continue its support to all state institution for peace and stability of the beloved homeland.

The forum highlighted importance of regional approach to eliminate roots of terrorism and attached hopes for success of ongoing Afghan reconciliation process while supporting all stakeholders to bring Afghan war to a peaceful logical conclusion.

Progress of ongoing stability operations for internal security was also discussed.
