LAHORE: A change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of national poet Allama Iqbal on Saturday morning to mark Pakistan Day.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) dressed in immaculate whites assumed ceremonial guard duties at the mausoleum with traditional zeal.
Air commodore Rizwan Malik, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, inspected formations of incoming PAF guards and outgoing Rangers guards. He laid floral wreath at the Mazar of Allama Iqbal, offered Fateha and recorded his impression in the Visitors Book.
The PAF contingent took positions at the four corners of the mausoleum as the national anthem was played by a musical band.
The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day today across the country with traditional zeal and fervor.

Pakistan Day marks the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, when Muslims of the Subcontinent demanded the establishment of a separate homeland to safeguard their rights.
A 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals welcomed the day. Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for progress, prosperity and sovereignty of the country.
