ISLAMABAD: Minister Tourism Fida Khan on Sunday said the government was making efforts to further promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
“The tourism department has been shifted under order 2018 from Gilgit-Baltistan Council,” he said while talking to Radio Pakistan.
He said the government had prepared new tourism policy to attract domestic and international tourists.
On March 7, while presiding over a high-level meeting in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Thursday reviewed performance of provincial tourism department.

Usman Buzdar said the Punjab government had designed a comprehensive strategy for promotion of tourism and would soon announce its first tourism policy.
Ruing over overlooking of this sector by the previous governments, he said the governments in the past entirely neglected an important sector like tourism and did not take any measure for its promotion.
“The Punjab government is taking revolutionary measures for promotion of tourism in the province,” he said.
In a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo on February 20, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry had stressed the need for enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Italy in the tourism sector saying that the collaboration would further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
