ISLAMABAD: Following completion of auction of surplus vehicles and buffaloes of the Prime Minister House, the federal government has now auctioned six used cars and a motorbike of the National Assembly.
“The National Assembly Secretariat has auctioned six surplus vehicles and a motorbike at price of Rs7,816,000 on Oct 24 in the light of the austerity drive of the government and directions of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser,” according to NA Secretariat on Thursday.
The vehicles included a Mercedes Benz, four Toyota Corollas, one Suzuki Bolan and a Honda CG-125 bike.
The reserved price of the vehicles was Rs4,774,603 whereas these were sold out for Rs7,816,000. The successful bidders would also have to deposit 10pc withholding taxafter which the actual value of the vehicles would be Rs8,597,600.
On Sep 18, around 61 of the 102 luxury and surplus vehicles parked on the lawns of PM House were auctioned off at a ceremony attended by bidders.
During the first phase, the vehicles that were auctioned off included eight BMWs, three cars of 2014 model and three 5000cc SUVs and two 3000cc SUVs of 2016 model. While in the second phase, remaining 43 vehicles were sold.
The list also contained four Mercedes Benz cars of 2016 model. Two of them are 4,000cc bullet-proof vehicles.
There were 16 Toyota cars as well. One of them was 2004 Lexus car, one 2006 Lexus SUV and two 2004 Land Cruisers. Eight cars ranged from 2003 to 2013 models.
Apart from these, four bullet-proof Land Cruiser vehicles of 2015 model were also up for auction. Apart from that, there was one Honda Civic 1800cc car and three Suzuki vehicles, including two Cultus cars and one APV, all of them were 2013 models. The list also included a 1994 model Hino bus.
Minister of State for Communications Murad Saeed recently said the money obtained from auction of vehicles would be spent on public welfare schemes.
