LAHORE: Government believes in freedom of media, said Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Sunday and urged the journalist to deal with sensitive issues responsibly.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Chaudhry Fawad said the current government ended every kind of censorship on media and making efforts for fair distribution of government advertisements in consultation with the media people.
He urged the media organizations to present a formula so that the government cannot use advertisements as a leverage to influence media.
Chaudhry Fawad said the government will introduce a new media regulatory authority to regulate all types of media.
He said the new regulatory body will help control piracy and provide journalists and owners of media houses one-window operation for the resolution of their problems.
Talking about fake report related to Asia Bibi, the information minister said foreign media published stories keeping in view their particular agenda.

Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal, November 8, had denied reports that Asia Bibi had left Pakistan and clarified, “there is no truth is reports of her leaving the country — its fake news.”
The Foreign Office had informed that the recently acquitted Christian woman was still Pakistan.
The official elucidation came from the Foreign Office following the fake media reports that has been circulating from yesterday, stating that Asia Bibi has left Multan’s women jail and was being flown to an “unknown destination”.
