ISLAMABAD: In the wake of a video showing the PML-Q leadership asking PTI leader Jahangir Tareen to ‘rein in’ Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the Governor and Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi to Islamabad to explain their position.
Last week, a video clip surfaced on social media showing a meeting between the senior PML-Q leaders and Jahangir Tareen in which the former can be seen requesting the latter to rein in the Punjab Governor who according to them was not letting Buzdar do his job.
Sources say the prime minister has summoned the chief minister, the governor and the PML-Q leader to discuss the video leak issue. The PM will hold a meeting with the three leaders to resolve reported differences between them.
Earlier today, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar shot down the rumors of differences with the ruling PTI’s coalition partners in Punjab.
Clarifying his position with regard to the video, Mr Sarwar questioned how it can be possible that the governor and the chief minister of a province would not be on the same page, adding that he enjoys close working relations with Usman Buzdar.
The video in question further showed the PML-Q Chaudhry Pervez Elhai alleging that Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar is not letting Chief Minister Usman Buzdar exercise his constitutional powers freely.
