SHANGHAI: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday met his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev and discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister, Asad Umar, Minister for Planning and Development, Railways Minister and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
During the meeting held in Shanghai, both the premiers also exchanged views over international and regional issues.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his address to the China International Import Expo in Shanghai said, the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will benefit both the countries and create more investment opportunities.
“Government was introducing reforms in each sector of Pakistan to ensure desired results. “CPEC will open up new doors of the opportunities,” he underlined.
Mr. Imran Khan lauded the remarks of President Xi Jinping, who said “the doors of China will always remain open”, adding that Pakistan has a range of resources amidst the most diverse landscape.
Imran Khan said his government in Pakistan has initiated deep and meaningful reforms to ensure transparency and accountability and provide ‘flawless smart solutions for the government and the people’.
PM Khan recalled that his party ran campaign before the general elections to aware masses about the ‘much-needed change’ to steer the country out of crisis.
Mr Khan also expressed his gratitude to the government of China for the warm hospitality.
Earlier in his address, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China’s initiative to expand imports was not a makeshift, but long-term consideration of embracing the world and future while promoting common development.
The President said, China will not close its door to the world and will only become more and more open.
