Prime Minister reiterates his resolve for polio free Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated his commitment with the federal and provincial governments towards polio eradication on Friday, adding, it is a national cause and every effort would be made to make Pakistan a polio-free country.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the National Task Force on Polio Eradication in Islamabad, which was attended by the Minister for Health, Amir Kiani, Governor KP, Shah Farman, Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, CM GB Hafez-ur-Rehman, Chief Secretaries of the provinces and the representatives of the Polio Partner Agencies.

Prime Minister Khan stressed upon the need for larger efforts to aware masses about the distressing effects of the crippling disease of Polio, especially for the future of the country.

The meeting was briefed about the current status and the efforts afoot to completely get rid of polio from the country. The chief executives of the provinces briefed the meeting about the efforts being taken by their respective governments.

The premier also thanked international partners for their utmost support towards this important cause.

In the meeting, Pak Army showed its resolve to provide security and enabling environment for the success of the polio eradication campaign countrywide.

It is pertinent to mention here that, four more cases of Polio were reported on November 6 in Mastung.

As per details shared by the local health department, four children, including two boys and girls, aged between 5 to 8 years were diagnosed with polio virus in Sherein Aab, area of Mastung.

The recent addition of four cases has brought the number of the total polio cases to ten this year so far.
