LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Saturday said that he is foreseeing the elimination of “corrupt families” from country’s political scene, ARY NEWS reported.
“The political role of these corrupt families will end as we will enter the new year,” Sheikh Rasheed said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
The minister, without naming anyone, said that rampant corruption has harmed every institution of the country leaving next to nothing in the national treasury.
“They (the corrupt politicians) have devoured everything, making it difficult for Imran Khan to deliver (on his promises) but God willing, Imran Khan will deliver,” said Rasheed.
Talking about recent visit of China, Rasheed said that the Pakistan’s image has seen a boost after Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s China visit.
10, 000 vacancies to be filled in railways
The minister made several announcements including the inauguration of Hyderabad Express and filling of 10,000 vacancies in Railways.
He told media that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Hyderabad Express, a shuttle train running between Karachi and Hyderabad, on November 15.
The minister announced his plan to fill 10, 000 vacancies in railways and maintained that locals will be preferred for the jobs.
Earlier on November 1,Sheikh Rasheed during a meeting with IMF delegation had said that government striving hard for the revival of railways, the speed of trains would be increased to increase profit.
The minister said that right now, PR had broad gauge but gradually it would be changed into standard gauge.
On a question from IMF team on Public Private Partnership (PPP), he said that Pakistan Railways is open to PPP.
