A number of renowned Pakistanis who made a mark in their respective fields, left for their eternal abode during 2018, here are some of the notable figures who passed away in 2018
January
On January 4, Renowned Pakistani cooking expert Zubaida Tariq, popularly known as Zubaida Aapa, left her family and a huge number of followers who kept waiting for her advice.
On January 5, Air Marshal (retired) Asghar Khan, the first native commander-in-chief of the Pakistan Air Force, passed away at the age of 96 in Islamabad.
February
On February 11, Renowned human rights activist and celebrated lawyer Asma Jahangir passed away, due to a sudden heart attack in Lahore. She was 66.
On the very same day, veteran Pakistani radio and television artist, Qazi Wajid left us at 87. Known for his wits, subtle satire and humor, Qazi’s demise was widely mourned.
May
On the 12th of May, Hockey star Mansoor Ahmed passed away in Karachi.
He was 49. Mansoor was a part of Pakistan’s Sydney World Cup-winning Hockey team of 1994.
July
08: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Saleem Shahzad passed away at a hospital in London after a long battle with cancer.
September
11: The three-time Pakistani First Lady, Kulsoom Nawaz, passed away in London after lung cancer had finally defeated her resolve against the fatal disease.
October
On October 6, Globally-acclaimed Pakistani chef and host of numerous cookery shows on television, Tahir Chaudhary died due to heart failure.
November
02: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Samiul Haq was assassinated in a knife attack at his residence in Rawalpindi, he was 82.
21: Widely read progressive poetess and writer Fehmida Riaz’s heart also left us in the month of November, she was 72.
A police officer from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) SP Tahir Dawar’s body was found from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on November 13. Dawar had went missing from Islamabad on October 26.
Afghan officials handed over the martyr’s body to Pakistan on November 15.
December
On December 19, Legendary film and television actor, Ali Ejaz, died of a heart attack. He was 77.
On December 25, Former MNA Ali Raza Abidi was shot dead by the two assistants outside his house in Karachi’s DHA area. He was 46.
