ISLAMABAD: The first session to discuss the well-being of Pakistani youth took place on Thursday at the Prime Minister House in the federal capital.
According to details, under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s policy to empower youth, the first meeting kicked off at the PM House, which marked the unified presence of federal and provincial governments at one table after eight long years.
Speaking on the occasion, PM’s Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar stressed “our youth is the asset of this country”, and vowed that the government will secure their future as the custom of neglecting youth related issues will be not be in practise anymore.
The meeting deliberated on a collective strategy by federal and provincial governments for the provision of employment opportunities to youngsters and devising a National Youth Council & Development framework.
For the first time, the session was attended by the youth ministers their secretaries and advisers from all four provinces, in addition to the secretaries for youth affairs from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
It is noteworthy that in October, Usman Dar was appointed as chairman of Prime Minister Youth Program and was later named as a special aide to the prime minister on youth affairs.
The prime minister has tasked Dar to work on a national youth policy.
