ISLAMABAD: Following the condemnation from the United States, Russia also came forward to denounce the terrorist attack of November 23 on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi.
According to details, the spokesperson of Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, decried the attack and said such incidents could not be tolerated on any level.
The investigation agencies of Pakistan have made key progress in probe of the incident and detained nine more suspects in the case with the help of the mobile phone data.
On the morning of November 23, three suicide attackers tried to storm the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, but were killed before they could get into the building.
Two policemen and two civilians embraced martyrdom during the attack launched by the three terrorists armed with suicide jackets.
The attackers were killed in the shootout with the law enforcement agencies.
It is pertinent to note here that a pro-India militant organization, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility of the attack.
United States Chargé d’Affaires (CdA) Ambassador Paul Jones, in a tweet shared by the US Embassy in Islamabad, said: “The United States condemns in the strongest terms today’s attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi”.
China had also strongly condemned the foiled terror attack and urged Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in the country.
“China strongly condemns any violent attacks against diplomatic agencies and requests that Pakistan takes practical measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the country,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang said.
