ISLAMABAD: Terming the shortage of gas in Sindh a huge problem, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday warned that those responsible for it will not be spared at any cost.
He directed the relevant authorities to resolve the gas crisis at the earliest.
The premier said his party came to power to represent the people, adding that they should not face difficulties at any cost.
Meanwhile, the prime minister has ordered removal of the board of directors of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) over the crisis.
A day earlier, taking strong exception to the ongoing gas crisis that has disrupted routine life and commercial activities in Sindh, Mr Khan chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review the situation. Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan briefed him about the crisis.
After getting the briefing from the officials concerned, the premier asked the minister to conduct an inquiry into the crisis and take immediate action against those found involved in it.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had announced late Tuesday that it was discontinuing gas supply to CNG stations and captive power plants of all general industries for an “indefinite period of time.”
The gas supply company said it was facing acute shortage of gas and low pressure in the system.
The SSGC spokesperson had assured that all household consumers will receive gas at all costs, however, after fixing the technical faults in the field, the CNG sector and industries will be supplied gas by the gas company.
