ISLAMABAD: Afghan presidential envoy Umer Daudzai on Friday held a meeting with Jamaat Islami chief Sirajul Haq to discuss the peace process in Afghanistan.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that a peaceful Afghanistan is essential for the neighboring Pakistan and the regional peace.
He said the key of peace in Afghanistan is in hands of the Afghan people. He said the Afghan government should take the opposition parties in confidence over the peace in the country.
Siraj said a peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s envoy Umer Daudzai reached Islamabad Tuesday on an important visit of Pakistan.
Daudzai during his stay in Pakistan till January 11 (today), will hold meetings with Pakistan’s leadership to discuss the Afghanistan peace process.
Umer Daudzai also met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday who assured him that Pakistan would make all-out efforts to seek an end to the conflict in the neighbouring country.
A new era of dialogue on political facilitation in Afghanistan and partial pullout of the US troops is expected to begin after the new impetus to peace process in the country.
The US President Donald Trump had recently announced calling back a significant number of US troops from Afghanistan.
