National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday said a corruption free Pakistan and the arrest of most wanted suspects is on the cards.
According to sources, a session of the executive board of NAB, presided by the chairman, is underway in Islamabad. Many approvals regarding inquires against corruption references will be granted.
While addressing the session, Justice (r) Iqbal said NAB will make transform Pakistan into a corruption free nation and mega corruption scandals will reach a logical end.
“The nations’ stolen money will be brought back,” he asserted.
Shedding light on his demand for a 90 day remand of suspects in high profile cases, the chairman said, such cases cannot be solved within 15 days and require a longer time period.
“White collar crimes are not easy to investigate,” he said. “The crime is committed in Lahore and the money is laundered all the way to US to purchase plazas.”
Earlier this week, on Jan 1, NAB finalised the list of witnesses against incumbent opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme scandal.
The list prepared by NAB’s prosecution team will record their statement against Sharif. The statements will be recorded on Jan 3.
