Order regarding NAB Lahore DG’s degree implemented, SC told

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned for two weeks a petition with regard to the alleged fake degree of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem, ARY News reported.

A three-judge bench headed by Sheikh Azmat Saeed was hearing the petition in Islamabad.

Advocate Azhar Siddiq informed the judges that the apex court’s verdict with regard to the verification of Mr Saleem’s degree had been implemented. “The petitioner now wanted to open a new Pandora box.”

“If found lying in the court, I should be given punishment,” said the petitioner. A NAB official told the bench that the Bureau’s reply and a report on Mr Saleem’s degree had already been submitted.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has declared the NAB director general’s degree in question genuine. “The HEC verified Mr Saleem’s degree (MSc Computer Sciences) and found it 100 per cent genuine and valid,” a NAB official had said earlier while quoting an HEC spokesperson.

The HEC verified his degree in pursuance of an order of the Supreme Court after media reports claimed his degree was fake. On Dec 24, the NAB had written to the HEC for verification of the NAB DG’s degree.
