Modi govt fanning flames over Pulwama attack: Qureshi

war on terror

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that the Indian government is trying to escalate tensions in the aftermath of Pulwama attack.

Condemning the Pulwama attack in the occupied Kashmir, the minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan has presented a detailed stance of Pakistan over the burning issue.

“India started alleging Pakistan for the incident without any investigations,” it was due to upcoming election season in the eastern neighbour that their government was trying to create a situation of war hysteria, Qureshi explained while talking to media.

“If India has actionable evidences, then they should inform us and we will respond positively,” however, “we can never be impressed with threats,” he asserted.

Pakistan can encourage terrorism as “we have rendered the sacrifice of nearly 70,000 lives” to eradicate the menace.

Referring to PM Khan’s address, he said the premier has made it clear that India should not be mistaken about our response in case of any attack from the eastern border.

Earlier today, Prime Minister gave a policy statement over Pulwama attack, he replied to India’s accusations and threats of using force against the South Asian giant, Pakistan. “If India attacks, then Pakistan will not think but retaliate,” he cautioned.

Pulwama Attack

On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in the Pulwama district of India-Ocuupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack resulted in the death of more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and the attacker. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. A local youth named Adil Ahmed Dar was identified as the attacker.

Indian media and politicians have since been blaming Pakistan for the attack without any evidence.
