LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for plastic bottle industry, ARY News reported.
Only food grade plastic bottle should be used for eatables, while bottle made with used plastic should not be used for eatables.
Used bottle should have written ‘it is not for use of edible items’. These bottles/ containers with the warning could be used for other items though.
The PFA has constituted special operation teams for raids during night time. The PFA director vigilance has been made in-charge of the operation teams.

It said there were reports of a mafia involved in manufacturing substandard plastic bottles/ containers at night.
The PFA, in a large-scale operation, had sealed nine food points in different areas of South Punjab region for selling unhygienic food on February 14.
According to the details, in Vehari, Ameen and Suns Slanty unit was sealed over usage of unhygienic ingredients and Sarwar and Suns Food was sealed over insanitary condition.
PFA vigilance team had sealed Chashti Food over selling unhealthy cooking oil and adulterated spices in Bahawalnagar. Usama Abouzar Store was sealed over selling expired items in Kabirwala.
While the PFA teams had conducted raid in Rahim Yar Khan, Fort Abbas and Rajanpur and sealed many shops over selling unhygienic food.
