Punjab govt forbids public school teachers from taking private tuition

LAHORE: The Punjab government has forbidden public school teachers from taking private tuition, ARY News reported.

The Punjab Education Authority said the decision had been taken to improve quality of the education at schools.

According to the order, the teachers will neither be able to teach at an academy nor a private tuition. It has warned of strict action against the teachers violating the order.

“The teachers will also not be able to take private tuition of the children they are teaching at their schools,” it added.

In case of violation, the teachers would have to face action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act (PEEDA) 2006, read the order.

Punjab Minister for Schools Education Murad Raas in October last year had said that the country’s future belonged to young students so the government was making efforts to make sure they get quality education.

Murad Raas had said that providing necessary guidance and training to the students on modern lines will help materialise the dream of a prosperous and developed Pakistan so the Punjab government was giving special attention to educational research so that students could continuously improve their knowledge and remain aware of new educational challenges around them.

“Only in this way, Pakistani students will have a global vision and a confident personality to act as leaders for national development,” said the minister.
