Sharif’s counsel requests IHC to schedule miscellaneous plea hearing

ISLAMABAD: Deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris on Thursday requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar office to schedule his client’s miscellaneous petition for hearing, ARY News reported.

In a meeting with the registrar office employees, Harris urged that the miscellaneous plea should be scheduled to withdraw writ petition 32.

“The plea should be scheduled for hearing on Monday,” he said. “We want the court to hear my client’s  miscellaneous petition instead of the writ petition.”

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo’s counsel said Sharif’s two writ petitions were sub judice against the Al-Azizia case, adding that the Constitution stated that relief was not granted on a matter with two writ petitions. “I wanted to conduct writ petition 352 only so that my client can be released on medical grounds.”

On Feb 6, the IHC had adjourned ousted premier Sharif’s plea hearing until Feb 12.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani had also subpoenaed the Punjab Home Department for the next hearing.

Sharif’s medical report had been presented before the court. His counsel had informed the court that four medical reports of his client were submitted.

However, the National Accountabiliy Bureau (NAB) counsel had argued that Sharif’s plea was not worthy of being heard.
