LAHORE: Model Ayyan Ali on Tuesday filed a plea in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to revoke her arrest warrants as she wanted to appear before the trial court.
Judge of special customs court Arshad Hussain Bhutta had issued perpetual arrest warrants for the model after declaring her a proclaimed offender over continued absence from the proceedings in a currency smuggling case on Saturday (March 9).
“I want to appear before the custom court to prove my innocence in the case”, Ayyan’s plea read.
Article 10-A ensures right of a transparent trial to every citizen of the land, therefore it is requested to suspend the arrest warrants, she added in her plea.

In March 2015 authorities, acting on a tip-off, arrested her at the VIP lounge of Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad on money laundering charges before she could board a flight to Dubai.
It is pertinent to note that under Pakistani laws, a citizen is barred to carry over $10,000 on a flight.
However, the authorities had found $506,800 tucked in her luggage. She was released on bail in July 2016 and her lawyer claimed she had no intention to take money outside Pakistan.
