ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA from Nankana Sahib Ijaz Ahmed Shah, has been announced as a federal minister in a government notification, ARY News reported on Friday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier approved a summary for naming Brig. (retd) Ijaz Shah as a member of his federal cabinet.
A decision with regard to the portfolio of the new minister will be taken later, sources said.
According to the informed sources, Ijaz Ahmed Shah will likely be given the portfolio of the Ministry of Interior.
Brigadier Ijaz Shah was elected from the National Assembly constituency NA-118 from Nankana Sahib.
The new federal minister has a strong background of military service.
A retired military officer from Nankana Sahib, Ijaz Ahmed Shah formerly served as Director-General of the Intelligence Bureau of Pakistan and resigned from the top post in March 2008.
He contested election for NA-118 (Nankana Sahib-II) and defeated rival PML-N candidate in a close contest.
