Muslim countries should devise joint strategy against Islamophobia: President Alvi

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said the Muslim countries needed to devise a joint strategy to tackle the phenomenon of Islamophobia in the world.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Sunday in connection with Nowruz celebrations, the president said that Pakistan had a vast experience of war against terrorism and the world can benefit from its expertise in this sector.

President Dr. Arif Alvi said that Pakistan had successfully defeated the menace terrorism and the current government had put the country on the path of economic progress, stability and prosperity.

Earlier, an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers on March 22 had  began, to discuss the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand and increasing violence based on Islamophobia.     

The open ended meeting was  being chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations, European Union and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe had  also been invited to the meeting.
