KARACHI: Five students on Monday were wounded as shed of their school collapsed in Karachi’s area of Tipu Sultan, ARY News reported.
According to the police, the shed of the school collapsed due to intense dust storm in the city. The injured were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
Getting the information about the incident, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi visited the school to inquire about the situation.
“Thanks God who has saved us from any major loss”, he said while expressing his views to the news men.
Naqvi said the students sustained minor scratches and were moved to the hospital.
An intense dust storm hit the metropolis Sunday night and continued Monday morning, dispersing sand around the city, downing trees and blowing away roofs in some areas.

K-Electric’s high-tension power transmission line tripped, suspending electricity supply to the linked grid stations. As a result, many areas, including North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Sarjani Town, and Nusrat Bhutto Colony, plunged into darkness.
Shah Faisal Colony, Azizabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other areas also faced power blackout after the strong winds began sweeping across the city.
The flight operation was also affected as the storm reduced visibility.
