ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi said on Sunday Pakistan successfully defeated the scourge of terrorism.
Addressing the 4th Paigham-e-Islam conference in Islamabad, he said world powers appreciate the Pakistan military for eradicating the menace of terrorism.
He said Islam is the religion of peace, equality and compassion.
The president said through providing shelter to Afghan refugee, Pakistan proved the true meaning of compassion and brotherhood.
Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noor-Ul-Haq Qadri in his address emphasized the need for unity in the ranks of Muslim Ummah to achieve the goal of progress in the comity of nations.
He said Pakistan is in need of unity and harmony and called on religious scholars to promote unity in the country.
Imam-e-Kaaba Dr Sheikh Abdullah Awad Al-Juhany and religious scholars from across the world attended the conference.

It’s pertinent to mention here that Imam-e-Kaaba Dr Sheikh Abdullah Awad Al-Juhany had led the Friday prayers at the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad this week.
In his sermon, which was attended by hundreds from the twin cities including prominent figures of society hailing from various walks of life, the Imam emphasised the importance of unity and brotherhood in Islam.
“The religion teaches people to live in peace and harmony”, he maintained.
