ISLAMABAD: Renowned religious scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed’s 9th death anniversary is being observed on Sunday (today).
Dr. Israr Ahmed was born on April 26, 1932 in District Hisar of India and he graduated from King Edwards College Lahore in 1954. He received master’s degree in Islamic studies from Karachi University in 1965. Later he devoted his life for trying to reawaken interest in Quran-based Islamic philosophy.
Dr. Israr Ahmed has sixty books to his credit on different aspects of Islam besides numerous audio and video lectures on teachings of Quran.
The religious scholar was honored with Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 1981 in acknowledgement of his services in religious instruction.

Last year, on December 27, the second death anniversary of singer-turned evangelist and Islamic scholar Junaid Jamshed was observed.
Junaid Jamshed was returning from a proselytizing visit from Chitral when the ill-fated flight PK-661 crashed near Havelian in Hazara division en route Islamabad. Forty-seven passengers including Junaid Jamshed’s wife died in the tragic incident.
Junaid Jamshaid had quit his musical career and joined the Tableeghi Jamaat in 2002. He had embarked a spiritual journey dedicating his life to the teachings of Islam under his mentor cleric Maulana Tariq Jameel.
