Sindh Assembly to debate potential revocation of 18th amendment

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly will debate over the potential revocation of 18th Constitutional Amendment as per its agenda set for Monday afternoon.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will give a policy statement on the matter of expected rescinding of the 18th amendment in the provincial assembly today.

After a long gap of 24 days, the session has been called wherein three detained assembly members will be brought from jails to attend the proceedings.

As per details, the production orders were issued for three assembly members including Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

A two-page agenda of the session was released which will be chaired by Speaker Durrani.

It is pertinent to mention that the reports about repealing 18th amendment by the federal government has been a pressing topic in the Pakistani politics.

Last week, Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi said the 18th Constitutional Amendment is not a religious document which can’t be changed.

He vowed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  government would bring a change to the amendment.
