Bahadurabad group working on ‘minus-two’ formula, claims Sattar

farooq sattar

KARACHI: Leader of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement, Farooq Sattar, has expressed resentment that a few party leaders have ‘occupied’ Bahadurabad group of the party, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media here, Sattar said Amir Khan, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Faisal Sabzwari and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui were among the leaders who have occupied the Bahadurabad setup of the MQM-P.

He said suspension of his party membership was a cowardly decision. “The decision of Rabita Committee is against the party constitution and totally illegal.”

I reject the decision taken by the decision-making body of the party, said Sattar.

He claimed that he became the victim of ‘minus-two’ formula by Bahadurabad group after making calls for accountability within the party ranks.

An accountability court on November 3 had indicted Farooq Sattar, and other Mutahidda Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leaders in cases related to incendiary speech.

The court read out the charges against them, stating that a hate speech was delivered outside the Karachi Press Club in August 2016 and MQM leaders facilitated the provocative speech. The court said that speech challenged the integrity of the country. “The MQM chief then ordered workers to attack a media house.”

Those who were indicted included Amir Khan, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Qamar Mansoor, Shahid Pasha, Gulfraz Khattak, M. Ishaq and Mehfooz Yar Khan.

Later speaking to media, Farooq Sattar said: “We all have rejected charges that accuse us of being anti-state during the court hearing, he said, adding that he was sure nobody would have raised a slogan against the country.”
