SUKKUR: Election tribunal on Monday upheld the victory of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sohail Anwar Siyal from PS -12-Larkana in General Elections of 2018.
The election tribunal Sukkur while announcing the judgment that was reserved on October 30, dismissed the petition to reverse the victory of Sohail Anwar Siyal from PS-12 Larkana.
Siyal’s victory was challenged by an independent candidate, Saifullah Abro soon after announcement of results.
Mr. Abro had maintained in his plea, that the former minister did not disclose his assets including 147 acres of agricultural land in the nomination paper. However, the counsel of Sohail Anwar Siyal argued that the petition was not maintainable and pleaded for its dismissal.
Earlier on October 30, the presiding judge of the Election Tribunal Sukkur, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqi, had reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments from both the parties which was announced today.
Siyal, a prominent leader of the Sindh’s ruling party Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had won the general elections of 2018 from PS-12-Larkana, after securing 48,997 votes.
He acted as Minister For Agriculture, Supply & Prices, Mines & Mineral and Home, in the last tenure of the PPP in Sindh province.
