PM’s aide claims tracing Sharifs’ new property in London

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar on Saturday claimed the government has traced out the Sharif family’s new property in central London.  

Speaking at a press conference along with PM’s special assistant on media affairs Iftikhar Durrani, Mr Akbar said the matter would be referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a probe.

He said late Begum Kulsoom Nawaz owned a flat in central London which her husband Nawaz Sharif failed to disclose in his assets details.

Mr Shehzad claimed PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz illegally used the prime minister’s helicopter during the party’s previous term, squandering Rs340 million of the public money on their air travel.

He said details about the funds spent in the name of gifts by the previous government over the past five years have also been gathered. Four matters involving members of the Sharif family will be sent to the Bureau for probe after which it would file references against them in relevant courts, he said.

Iftikhar Durrani said Shehbaz Sharif spent Rs600 million of the taxpayers’ money on his trips by air during his stint as Punjab chief minister, adding that he spent another Rs600 million on provision of security to the Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence in Raiwind.
