ISLAMABAD: The rivals of yesterday, Shehbaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari, after handshake during National Assembly session today also take time to exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
Zardari later talking to media also expressed his desire to meet Nawaz Sharif, while in the past he had used harsh words against Sharifs and refuted meeting requests.
Is it a move from the yesterday’s rivals to become tomorrow’s political allies?
After a bad patch of relations between the political heavyweights when Zardari’s People’s Party refused to vote Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Senate elections, not to vote Shehbaz Sharif in the election of prime minister and PML-N’s candidate for Punjab chief minister, now closing the space.
Asif Zardari has agreed to meet Sharifs, while Shehbaz, a hawkish opponent of PPP in PML-N ranks, is also seen as a milder person than his past self.
The ‘warm handshake’ between two leaders in National Assembly has started speculations about increasing bonhomie between the two political foes.
Zardari, in the Parliament House’s corridor talking to newsmen expressed his desire to meet elder brother of Shehbaz, Mian Nawaz Sharif.
It is going to be seen in coming days’ whether this ‘handshake’ mere remains a routine matter or becomes preface to a new political alliance.
